I was born in Taihape, however my family moved to the west coast where I was raised around the Kāwhia Harbour. In my teenage years my Parents moved back to Taihape and I not long followed behind them. I started work wool handling in the sheds where I met my Partner, and we started our whānau in 2005 with the birth of my son and a year later my daughter was born.
I have always tried to balance my mahi with my whānau, so I worked in various part time roles. I was a Shift supervisor at McDonalds, then the 2IC Checkout manager at New World. These roles taught me diversity in different customer cultures, and I was able to build valuable relationships with customers. With those tools in hand, I moved into a casual position at Westpac, followed by a position at the post shop and KiwiBank to further broaden my knowledge base. I started at Mōkai Pātea Services during Covid lockdown as a Whānau Ora Iwi Navigator and am privileged to be stepping into a new role as the Pou Hauora or Whanau Ora manager to offer support and guidance to my fellow kaimahi.
